The Gozo Business Chamber submitted its response to a Consultation document issued by the government – ‘Publicly Accessible Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Regulations’. The Chamber welcomes the proposed regulations within the overall endeavour to encourage a greater
uptake of electric vehicles.
A point to be noted is that it is to be ensured that there is an equitable distribution of public charging pillars around the whole island, as there may exist the risk of a concentration of pillars in popular public places with less points in less populated areas, leading to an unequitable distribution of the network points. To this end the Government must ensure that there is a form of public service obligation on all interested operators.
