During a plenary meeting of the leading Committees of the Greening the Islands Observatory on March 7 Joseph Borg, President of INSULEUR, was elected as Vice-Chair of the Island Advisory Committee.
In his intervention during the meeting Joseph Borg highlighted that: “The role of the Island Advisory Committee is to identify islands’ challenges and priority needs with a focus on the circular economy. Given my involvement within INSULEUR, including as a President of this organisation for the past five years, I can bring competencies and experience to this committee. On various instances I have spoken about the importance of islands becoming more sustainable, and on the difficulties being faced by islands because of the impacts of climate change. However, I have also highlighted how islands can provide the ideal tests beds where sustainable solutions are tested, providing also a positive impact on the local economy and creating new employment opportunities.”
