The Gozo Business Chamber (GBC) has recently launched its “What’s In It For Me?” project, an initiative co-financed by the European Parliament. The project aims to empower young people to become active citizens and encourage participation in upcoming elections amongst two distinct groups: youths and parents with young children.

The project was launched with a public speaking training session led by Mr. Paul Gauci B.A. (Hons);  M.Ed.(Trg & Dvpt)  Sheffield. Mr. Gauci is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (UK) and a seasoned trainer with over 30 years of experience delivering training programs on various management and development topics to audiences at an international level. He is a recipient of the “Training Leadership Award” at the World HRD Congress and has served as a speaker and trainer at conferences across Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.

The training focused on equipping these young change makers with the necessary skills to effectively communicate their ideas and inspire action. Mr. Gauci’s expertise proved instrumental in guiding the participants through techniques for crafting compelling presentations, delivering impactful messages, managing the emotions associated with public speaking, and stage presence.

The culmination of the workshop was a presentation utilising these newly acquired skills. Leaders in the audience were immensely impressed by the students’ ability to apply the training in real-time, as they delivered their speeches with clarity, confidence, and a genuine enthusiasm for their chosen topics.

This successful training session paves the way for the continuation of the “What’s In It For Me?” project. By fostering public speaking skills, the GBC is laying the groundwork for a generation of young leaders who are actively engaged in shaping their communities and the future of Europe. We now look forward to bringing this training to more Gozitan youth. We extend our gratitude to Mr. Paul Gauci for his invaluable expertise in delivering the training, to the enthusiastic youths and leaders who participated, the Victoria Scout Group for making their premises available to us, and to the European Parliament Liaison Office for their support.

Through this initiative we’re empowering young people to become active participants in the democratic process. We look forward to witnessing the continued development of these young changemakers as they leverage their newly acquired skills to make a positive impact in Gozo and beyond!
