The National Statistics Office published two press releases on inbound tourism, and residential property transactions.

Though the one on inbound tourism (News Release 019/2022) is not divided according to region, it shows important trends on tourism in 2021, and the most important markets for the Maltese islands, with the United Kingdom still retaining the most important contribution to the Maltese islands in 2021.   However, the total highest expenditure per capita according to the country of origin was in the following order: Australia € 1,625 per capita; USA € 1,404 per capita; and Switzerland € 1,254 per capita.

As regards the news press release on residential property transactions (News Release 020/2022), Gozo again surpassed other regions in the Maltese islands with 200 final deeds of sale registered in January 2022.  The same applied for the number of promise of sale agreements registered in January 2022 i.e. 109, though this represented a decrease of  63% over December 2021, when 293 promise of sale agreements were registered, and also a decrease of  25.9% when compared to January 2021 when 147 promise of sale agreements were registered in Gozo.
