On 11 September 2025, the Gozo Business Chamber took part in the first edition of the Malta X Bulgaria Business Exchange, held in Sofia.
Organised under the auspices of Her Excellency Anne Marie Muscat Fenech Adami, Malta’s Non-Resident Ambassador to Bulgaria, the event aimed to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Malta and Bulgaria in business, trade, tourism, digital innovation, education, and culture.
The programme included a morning session at the Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency (BSMEPA), where Maltese representatives delivered short presentations followed by B2B meetings with Bulgarian counterparts. In the evening, an official reception was held at the National Archaeological Museum, which featured traditional Bulgarian hospitality, cultural performances, and addresses by distinguished speakers, including a video message from the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Ian Borg. During the ceremony, Malta was also awarded a Plaquette of Honor for its contribution under the 2017 Bilateral Agreement on the Transfer of Annual Emissions Allocations.
The Chamber was represented by Council Member Josianne Cutajar, who delivered two short presentations highlighting the Chamber’s role and Gozo’s potential as a testbed for digital and sustainable solutions. She also emphasised the island’s unique advantages, including its strong connectivity links and the incentives available for businesses operating in Gozo. The event provided an opportunity to distribute promotional material and engage directly with Bulgarian stakeholders, opening discussions on possible collaborations with organisations such as the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Bulgarian SME Promotion Agency.
This participation reinforced the Chamber’s commitment to positioning Gozo as a hub for innovation and sustainability, while building cross-border partnerships that support the long-term development of the island’s economy.
