Joseph Borg, President of INSULEUR and Vice Chair of the GTIO Island Advisory Committee, took part in the Greening the Islands Observatory Summit, held in Curacao from October 10th to 11th. The summit was organized by the Greening the Islands Foundation in collaboration with the Ministry of Economic Development of Curacao.

The GTI Observatory Summit serves as the annual meeting of its leading committees, gathering global leaders committed to advancing the sustainable transition of islands. This multistakeholder event aims to gather insights on key initiatives, refine flagship documents, and shape the Observatory’s strategic direction.

On the first day, Joseph Borg delivered a summary of the discussions, which focused on scaling up the 100 Resilient Islands Initiative and addressing the climate action priorities for small islands ahead of COP 29. On the second day, he participated in a technical workshop that explored Curacao’s roadmap to achieving 100% renewable energy by 2035. Joseph Borg also had the opportunity to meet with Steven Damiana, Manager of Investment and Trade Promotion at the Curacao Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
