Island Finance Forum
On Monday 25 April 2022, Joseph Borg, President of INSULEUR took part at the Island Finance Forum – Chambers of Commerce and Sustainable Development. During his speech, Joseph Borg spoke about the challenges that islands face particularly that of ensuring sustainable development.
During his intervention, he added that islands are very fragile eco-systems which are not only burdened by challenges such as accessibility. Their geographical positions in the periphery of a country also brings other challenges, principally those related to their governance.
He highlighted how both island Chambers and also organisations like INSULEUR which is an intra-EU representative organisation can be both a voice for islands and a generator of new ideas which can push the diversification of island economies to be more sustainable.
