The Gozo Business Chamber was represented by President Michael Galea, Joseph Borg, Vice President of INSULEUR, and Daniel Borg, Chief Executive Officer of the Chamber and member of INSULEUR’s Technical Committee, during the INSULEUR General Assembly and Forum held on the island of Syros, Greece, on 17 October 2025.

The General Assembly, chaired by INSULEUR President Giannis Roussos, provided an overview of the organisation’s recent activities and projects focused on strengthening the representation of islands within the European Union. During the meeting, President Roussos expressed his appreciation to Joseph Borg for his ongoing support and contribution to INSULEUR’s work.

The INSULEUR Forum addressed the theme of “Sustainable Agriculture in Island Economies” and featured interventions from leading European figures, including Roberta Metsola, President of the European Parliament; Themis Christophidou, Director-General, DG Regio; and Manolis Koutoulakis, General Secretary, Ministry of Maritime Affairs & Insular Policy of Greece. Discussions explored how island regions can develop resilient agricultural sectors that balance sustainability, innovation, and competitiveness.

Daniel Borg acted as rapporteur of the third panel, which examined European, national, and regional policies to support the primary sector in island economies. The panel discussed how policy frameworks can foster innovation, strengthen rural communities, and create sustainable opportunities for farmers and entrepreneurs across Europe’s islands.

Through its active participation, the Gozo Business Chamber continues to strengthen its engagement at the European level, ensuring that the specific realities and aspirations of Gozo and other island regions are effectively represented within the EU policy agenda.
