The Gozo Business Chamber, in collaboration with the Ministry for the Economy, European Funds and Lands, the Gozo Regional Development Authority, Aġenzija Żgħażagħ, Bank of Valletta, and EUROPE DIRECT Gozo, has organized the fourth edition of the ‘Youth 4 Entrepreneurship Gozo’ event.

This year’s Youth 4 Entrepreneurship contest focused once again on ‘Sustainability’, more specifically on business ideas which are focused on reducing climate change. The business ideas presented had the aim to reduce the causes of climate change such as greenhouse gas emissions; or limit the impact resulting from climate change without in any way contributing to its causes.

Four youths presented 4 ideas all related to sustainability and Gozo, in front of a panel of business experts.  The latter also had the opportunity to ask a number of questions related to the idea that was presented.  This year’s panel was composed of Mario Borg, CEO of the Gozo Regional Development Autorithy,; Simon Schembri, Senior Manager, Community and Outreach Youth Work Services at Aġenzija Żgħażagħ;  Mark Scicluna Bartoli, Executive Product Executive Business Banking at Bank of Valletta; and Matthew Caruana, a leading business innovator, and manager at ZAAR, Malta’s leading crowdfunding platform.  The event was presented by Francesca Borg.

Prior to the event, Aġenzija Żgħażagħ had also organised a number of coaching sessions specifically dedicated to interested youths.

The overall goal of this initiative was to instil confidence in young people enabling them to reach their full potential, direct attention to the economic potential and challenges facing the island of Gozo, whilst encouraging young people to adopt an innovative approach to develop their business ideas based on Gozo’s needs and potential.  The event was part of the activities being organised as part of the SME Week.

The event was held on Friday 11 November 2022 at the Kempinski Hotel San Lawrenz and started at 19:00 hrs.  You can access the agenda of the event here.

All the participants were presented with a certificate of participation by the Hon. Perit Clint Camilleri, Minister for Gozo.  The audience was also addressed by Joseph Borg, President of the Gozo Business Chamber, and Miriam Teuma, CEO of Aġenzija Żgħażagħ.
