The Gozo Business Chamber, in collaboration with the Occupational Health and Safety Authority (OHSA) and Bank of Valletta (BOV), successfully organized its first webinar of the year, titled “Navigating the New Occupational Health and Safety Act: Key Updates and Implications for Businesses.” The event, held on Thursday, 6th March 2025, provided a detailed overview of the recent legislative updates in occupational health and safety (OHS) and their impact on businesses.
In his opening address, Michael Galea, President of the Gozo Business Chamber, emphasized the importance of workplace safety and the Chamber’s commitment to keeping businesses informed about critical regulatory changes.
The webinar featured key insights from Silvio Farrugia, Senior Manager (Policies and Programmes) at OHSA, and Dr. Melhino Mercieca, Senior Manager (Prosecution) at OHSA. Their presentations outlined the new legal obligations, enforcement measures, and structural changes introduced in the updated Health and Safety at Work Act, 2024. The speakers also addressed the challenges and opportunities that businesses may face in ensuring compliance with the new framework.
A Q&A session, moderated by Daniel Borg, CEO of the Gozo Business Chamber, allowed participants to engage directly with the speakers and gain further clarity on key provisions of the Act.
The Chamber extends its appreciation to all those who attended and contributed to the discussion. For those who were unable to join, the full webinar is available for viewing on YouTube.
