The Gozo Business Chamber celebrated its 20th year anniversary at the San Lawrenz Kempinski Hotel, the same venue where 20 years ago the public deed which constituted the same organisation was signed. The commemorative evening was highlighted by speeches from the Chief Executive Officer of the organisation, Daniel Borg, Associate Professor within the Department of Public Policy, Dr Edward Warrington, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry for Gozo, John Borg, (on behalf of the Minister for Gozo, Hon Justyne Caruana) and the President of the Gozo Business Chamber, Joseph Borg. A video presentation outlining the history of the organisation and its contribution to Gozo’s socio-economic development was also shown during the event.
An important part of the evening’s celebration was the presentation of mementos to present and past Council members and former presidents. The interventions during the day focused on various aspects, including the Gozo Business Chamber’s contribution to Gozo’s achievements throughout the years, the need for good governance, and how the Chamber should develop in the coming years. In his keynote speech Dr Edward Warrington outlined proposed new areas on which the Chamber could continue to build in the coming years. The President of the Chamber Mr Joseph Borg highlighted how Malta is at a crossroads and that the tie between the political and economic sphere should be one based on sound ethical principles.
