The National Statistics Office issued the News Release No. 179/2021 – ‘Regional Labour Supply by Place of Residence and Work 2018 – 2020’.
It is important to note that:
- 3,624 Gozitan residents commuted to Malta in 2020;
- Full time employment (by place of work)in the Gozo Region stood at 68% in the private sector, and 32% in the public sector, while the same percentages in Malta stood at 79% and 21% respectively. On the other hand if we take into account full time employment by place of residence the number of full time jobs in the private sector goes down to 63.4% showing that a significant number of the Gozitan residents commuting to work in Malta do so in the public sector.
